September 16 - Rural Access to Care

Health Care Access In Rural Minnesota
September 16, 2009
7pm-9pm
Jeanne d'Arc Auditorium
Whitby Hall
St. Catherine University

The third in our series on health care reform will focus on rural health.

First we will hear from Jim Pryzbilla, CEO, of PrimeWest Health, to learn about how counties are working together to improve access and lower cost in rural Minnesota. We will learn how they are reducing fragmentation of services by integrating both public and private health care, and how tax dollars and public resources are being more effectively managed.

Next, Bruce Miller, of Minnesota Farmers Union, will present stories representing the challenges of Minnesota's farmer in accessing and providing health care for themselves and their employees.

And finally, Dr. Paul Hochfeld, an Emergency Medical physician from Corvallis Oregon, will speak to the difficulties facing rural areas of our country today, which include a shortage of providers and physicians, poorer health conditions and difficulty obtaining health insurance.

Dr. Paul Hochfeld is part of a caravan of physicians transversing the country to demand healthcare reform. More can be found at www.madashelldoctors.com
